Three Teachers Retire from UHS

Mr. Otis Key
Coach Key grew up in Russellville, Ky., where he was a member of Russellville High School's back-to-back championship teams while earning all-district, all-region, and academic honors. He made the dean's list at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo., where he received a bachelor's degree in sociology/psychology. He played professional basketball in Spain for two years and speaks fluent Spanish and some French and Portuguese.
Coach Key joined the Globetrotters in 1998, Key has played in more than 15 countries, was a member of the squad that recorded a three-game sweep of the 1999 College All-Star Series, and was the first rookie to become an Advance Ambassador for the team.

​Coach Key became the Vol State Lady Pioneers Coach in 2014.

​We at UHS want to thank Coach Otis for coming and speaking with us on Tuesday.

​Mrs. Kittrell, teacheres, and employees of the school for all their support and work. Mrs. Sarah Mofield for her aweson set design. Mrs. Massey for assembling the props and fun dramatic devices for our performance. Mr. Roberts for working the sound system. And of course Miss Stiggins for putting it together. All of this comes together to make a wonderful festive program.

HISTORY NIGHT AT UHS, January 20, 2017

UHS History Competition at MTSU
Union Heights students recently attended the Regional History Day Competition at MTSU in Murfreesboro. These students worked hard to qualify for this round of competition, completing research papers, documentaries, websites, exhibits, or performances.
Several Union Heights students placed in their categories at History Day. Gracie Hix placed first in the research paper category with a paper on Susan B. Anthony, and Dara Haynes placed third in the research paper category with a paper on Rosa Parks. Savannah Phillips, Chrissy Balser, Anna Riggins, Catie Denney, and Adreanna Denney all placed third in the group performance category with a performance on Claudette Colvin. Three students received special awards for covering international topics. Mohammed Abou-Rahma and Jake Taylor received an award for their documentary on Mahatma Gandhi, and Joshua Galindez received an award for his website on Apartheid.
