Back-to-School Tax Free Weekend 2026 Dates

Tennessee’s back-to-school sales tax holiday runs the last Friday and Saturday of July plus the following Sunday. For 2026, the dates are July 31 – August 2, 2026.

What’s Exempt During Back-to-School Weekend

• Clothing — items costing $100 or less per item (apparel worn on the body; excludes accessories, jewelry, handbags, and umbrellas)
• School supplies — items costing $100 or less per item (pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, binders, backpacks, calculators)
• Computers — personal computers and tablets costing $1,500 or less
